Stage 1- Desired Results
|
|||||||||
· Established Goals: I want students to leave this lesson understanding the cause and effects of plate tectonics formation of mountains and describe two ways that mountains can form at convergent plate boundaries.

Stage 3- Learning Plan

Standards:
RST.11-12.7: evaluate multiple sources of information presented in diverse formats and media (e.g., quantitative data, video, multimedia) in order to address a question or solve a problem.”
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RI.5.3
Explain the relationships or interactions between two or more individuals, events, ideas, or concepts in a historical, scientific, or technical text based on specific information in the text.
W= Opening, the teacher will peak students prior knowledge about landforms, and let them know where the lesson is going followed by essential questions
H= Students will watch Earth Space & Science this video http://www.learner.org/courses/essential/earthspace/session5/index.html vocabulary words visible- convergent plate boundaries, formation, collide
E= Pair share, student will discuss different ways forces of nature can change a landform and write on newsprint.
R= Can use 3.2.1 Count Down to assess themselves
E= Students will be given the opportunity to evaluate each other’s work
T= Student will have a choice to draw a picture(s) or use clay
O= by constructing a model with what could have made a rock surface change its physical features and become a mountain teacher observes well student maximizes initial and sustained engagement as well as effective learning
Assessment: (formal & Informal) students in detail what two ways convergent boundaries are formed. Using either a drawing with horizontal lines to show rock formation or play doe. Red Robin/3.2.1 Count Down/
